Research Areas:

Dr. Sheikh's main research interests include earthquake resistance and design of concrete structures, upgrade of structures for non-seismic and seismic resistance with fibre-reinforced polymers, and durability of FRP-concrete composites under various loading and environmental conditions including nuclear radiation. He has also carried out extensive research in the area of expansive cement and its applications, and has a patent for an expansive cement to his credit. Dr. Sheikh has extensively published his work in various journals and conference proceedings around the world. His work on retrofitting with FRP has been applied to a large variety of concrete structures including highway bridges, refinery structures, etc.
